London South Bank University (LSBU) has a new opening for an enthusiastic practitioner to join our Student Recruitment and Outreach Team. As a Student Recruitment and Outreach Officer, you will be working on a range of projects and activities that will have a tangible impact on the University?s UK undergraduate student recruitment and outreach objectives. This is a particularly exciting time to join the Student Recruitment and Outreach Team here at LSBU as we develop closer partnerships with key feeder schools in our local community and beyond.

The Student Recruitment and Outreach Officer will work closely and collaboratively with the rest of the team and other colleagues across the university to deliver the Student Recruitment and Outreach strategy to ensure that LSBU is maximising its UK undergraduate student recruitment efforts. The role holder will act as a key point of contact for LSBU?s feeder schools and colleges and will plan, organise, deliver and evaluate a variety of projects and activities across the academic year. The role holder will provide excellent customer service and will develop strong relationships with prospective applicants and their schools, providing accurate information and advice on studying at and applying to university, whilst promoting LSBU as a destination of choice for Higher Education.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of on-campus, off-campus and virtual student recruitment events including Third Party and school/college fairs, subject specific events such as Experience Days, general IAG and HE talks and workshops, Widening Participation activities and other programmes.

2. Account management of priority target feeder schools, building and maintaining relationships with teachers and careers advisors within priority target feeder schools, in order to provide bespoke HE progression support and develop a recruitment pipeline to LSBU.

3. Work closely with the Senior Student Recruitment and Outreach Officers to develop the team strategy and identify key schools, colleges and communities to target with Student Recruitment and Outreach activities support.

4. Ensure Student Recruitment and Outreach content across the website, newsletter and presentations is relevant and kept up to date and in line with changes in the sector.

5. Maintain, develop and update presentations, collateral and materials used in delivery.

6. Provide logistical support for the organisation of external events and activities.

7. Maintain evaluation processes of all Student Recruitment events and activities.

8. Stay up to date with and promote best practice in presentation and workshop delivery across the Student Recruitment and Outreach team for your relevant audiences.

9. Build and maintain professional working relationships with key contacts within the LSBU Group, recommending, booking and delivering an enhanced programme of Higher Education progression activities, providing information, advice and guidance to both students and staff and ensuring regular communication via phone, email and face to face with the appropriate staff contact.

10. Undertake regular travel to schools and colleges (including evenings and weekends) across London and the Southeast to deliver a range of talks and workshops to prospective students, teachers, parents and supporters in order to raise awareness of LSBU and its courses.

11. Represent LSBU at school and college, UCAS, UK University Search and other third- party recruitment fairs, providing accurate information and advice on courses the university offers and how to apply to LSBU.

12. Contribute to and participate in Marketing and Communications projects helping the department achieve its wider student recruitment and university reputation aims and objectives, supporting the development of a team ethos which demonstrates University values.

13. Working with the Events Team, support on the recruitment, training and ongoing management of Student Ambassadors working specifically on Student Recruitment and Outreach activities.

14. To take on other reasonable duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Senior Student Recruitment and Outreach Officer, Senior Manager Student Recruitment and Outreach, Director of Recruitment and Marketing, or another relevant manager.

15. Have a flexible approach to work which includes evening and weekend work and travel within the UK, which may include occasional overnight stays.

1. Educated to Degree level or with work experience relating to recruitment, marketing, events, and administrative project management.

2. Knowledge of undergraduate student recruitment, UCAS application process and/or access and participation, and outreach.

3. Excellent customer service with the ability to build positive relationships internally and externally.

4. Experience of planning, developing and delivering events for a variety of audiences, including working with young people.

5. Experience of delivering engaging and impactful presentations.

6. An excellent ability to communicate effectively with various individuals and groups, including senior leaders.

7. Excellent written skills for print, web, newsletters and other materials aimed at a wide range of audiences.

8. Strong administrative skills and a proven ability to deal with a varied and complex workload, including the ability to organise your own workload, prioritising a variety of tasks while working under pressure and to strict deadlines.

9. Experience of working effectively within a team.

10. Self-motivated to work independently without close supervision, using own initiative to resolve problems.

11. Able to represent LSBU with enthusiasm and integrity to applicants and their advisors as well to external organisations.

12. Proactive 'can do' attitude and willingness to develop self and area of work.

13. Able to demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, equality and diversity, and its practical application.

Desirable

14. Experience of evaluating and producing reports on activities and making recommendations for improvement.

15. Knowledge of child safeguarding, health and safety and the Prevent Strategy to ensure safe delivery of activity.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and confident communicator who is able to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent administrative skills and an eye for detail. You will have a creative approach to problem solving and be able to work on multiple projects at once., Educated to degree-level.
