Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineers make up the body of the engineering department and are responsible for carrying out the day-to-day developments of the design through the design process. The Senior Structural Engineer is fundamentally a hands-on analysis and design-based role within the Civil & Structural department that generally includes interfacing with other engineering disciplines in the project design team. The Senior Structural Engineer also has a shared managerial responsibility in respect of Graduates, Apprentices and/or Designers in the team as and when required to do so. To be considered for the Senior Structural Engineer position the applicant must be delivering functions above that of a Design Engineer. Reporting to,

• Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process
• Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications
• Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design
• Contribution to design reviews
• Preparation of technical specifications
• Preparation of risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation required by safety legislation and procedures
  
  Knowledge of the fundamentals of structures and foundations using
• Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel.
• Design experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel.
• Knowledge and understanding of Structural steel connections and connection types.
• Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position
• Ability to work to tight deadlines,
• A strong team player.
Desirable
• Nuclear experience or experience from within a highly regulated industry,
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays overs occasionally
• Experience of supervision.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
• A recognised Engineering Certificate such as HNC / HND / Degree
