Are you a UKSCA-accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach looking to kick-start your career in performance sport?
The University of Southampton is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our Performance Sport team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with talented student-athletes, delivering high-quality strength and conditioning support within a thriving university performance sport environment.
Working alongside our Performance Sport Lead, you will play a key role in supporting our scholarship athletes, performance teams and Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) athletes. You'll design and deliver strength and conditioning programmes, monitor athlete development, and help students balance the demands of academic study with high-performance sport.
This role offers the chance to work across a diverse range of sports while developing your coaching expertise within a supportive and ambitious team. Whether you're newly UKSCA accredited or looking to take the next step in your career, you'll be encouraged to grow professionally while making a genuine impact on student-athlete performance and experience.
What you'll be doing
o Programming and coaching evidence-based strength and conditioning sessions
o Supporting athlete development through performance testing, profiling and progress monitoring.
o Mentoring student-athletes to help them successfully balance academic and sporting commitments.
o Assisting with the delivery of the University's Performance Sport and TASS programmes.
o Working collaboratively with coaches, practitioners and key stakeholders to deliver an outstanding athlete experience.
o Contributing to the continued growth and success of Southampton Sport's performance programme.
You'll be passionate about athlete development and committed to providing an exceptional student experience. You'll bring excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the ability to build positive relationships with athletes and colleagues alike.
Essential requirements include:
o UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) Accreditation.
o A qualification or equivalent experience in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science or a related discipline.
o Experience delivering strength and conditioning programmes within a sporting environment.
o Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
