Full Job Description

Working enthusiastically and professionally as a Street Lighting electrician you will be on the front line working to maintain over 36,000 street lighting columns over the borough. You will carry out routine tasks such as Electrical testing, fault repairs and emergency call outs. You will also be responsible for maintaining all aspects of street furniture as well as play a key role in the installation and removal of the festive lights during the season. Following initial training you will enter onto a Standby Rota to attend emergency call outs that offers a generous standby payment and overtime.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who will enjoy working as part of a team and occasional lone working maybe required. You must be self-motivated, with good interpersonal and communication skills. We are also looking for an individual who is flexible and with good IT skills in order to maintain the council's database system for street lighting., To be appointed to this role you must be able to prove your right to work in the UK, and you must maintain a valid (active) right to work. You will join a hard working Street Lighting team, and will for the majority of your tasks be paired with a Street Lighting operative. The street lighting team has in the past proudly won multiple awards as best performer at APSE (Association for Public Excellence). We do get involved in some aspects of other electrical work within the council as well as our routine day to day tasks.
