Full Job Description
The Strategic Music Manager contributes to the leadership, management and strategic development of Severn Arts' music offer ensuring high-quality music education provision in Worcestershire. The aim is to strengthen relationships with teachers, schools, parents/carers and identify new customers., The Strategic Music Manager contributes to the leadership, management and strategic development of Severn Arts' music offer, ensuring high-quality music education provision for all across Worcestershire. The purpose of the role is to strengthen relationships with teachers, schools, parents/carers and to identify potential new customers. Strategic Development
- Manage the planning and delivery of Severn Arts Music Education offer: Music Centres, Orchestras and Bands, Individual and Small Group Tuition, Continued Professional Development (CPD) including School Support, and First Access Music Education (FAME).
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of music education in schools to set targets for school engagement and progression.
- Assist in the preparation of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Music Hub annual data return, supporting the Director of Music Education. School Engagement & Partnership Working
- Act as the first point of contact for Worcestershire school music leads.
- Build and sustain strong, positive relationships with schools through regular communication and visits to increase uptake of music tuition and other offers.
- Support schools with curriculum planning, projects and activities including the role of technology and AI in music teaching.
- Participate actively in school network meetings, promoting engagement with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Music Hub.
- Work with the marketing & communications team to ensure effective professional relationships with all of our stakeholders.
- Oversee and develop the Hub Lead Schools and attend meetings as required. Operational Management
- Manage Lead Teachers and Instrumental Teachers (variable hours) through quality assurance, strategic timetabling, monitoring of absence, target setting, report monitoring, support and training guidance.
- Ability to develop new performance opportunities including conducting ensembles as required.
- Oversee recruitment and selection, induction, observations and performance management of teachers.
- Support young people and new teachers entering the sector and identify career pathways and CPD opportunities.
- Support staff with IT, including the CRM system, Speed Admin.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Support the delivery of Severn Arts' Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access strategy. Representation & Advocacy
- Act as an ambassador for Severn Arts, representing the organisation at local, regional and national levels.
- Deputise for the Director of Music Education when required.
- Manage and attend concerts, events, school activity and conferences as required.
- Showcase and present relevant reports to Severn Arts Board and other stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national developments in music education and share insights with colleagues and partners.
