Stores and Purchasing Assistant

We are seeking a Stores and Purchasing Assistant to support the smooth running of our Faculty Stores Facilities. You'll play a key role in ensuring that laboratory consumables, equipment, and chemicals are ordered, received, and distributed efficiently, underpinning the Faculty's research and teaching activities. This role also includes:

• Providing an excellent front-line service to staff, students, and visitors.
• Managing deliveries, stock, and records with accuracy and care.
• Ensuring health and safety compliance, including safe handling and storage of chemicals.
• Supporting procurement processes, liaising with suppliers, and maintaining financial records.
• Covering for colleagues during absences and contributing to continuous improvement of our services.
  
  We are looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in a customer-facing role with excellent communication skills.
• Knowledgeable about health and safety procedures, including COSHH and manual handling.
• Confident managing stock, processing orders, and maintaining accurate records.
• Proactive, organised, and able to balance multiple priorities under pressure.
• Comfortable in a physical role involving standing, walking, and handling goods.
• Experience with financial ordering/procurement systems and additional training in Health & Safety would be an advantage.
