Full Job Description
- Provide specialist clinical support and knowledge to patients within the Orthopaedic ward.
- Act as an effective role model and demonstrate effective organisational and leadership skills
- Contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the ongoing professional development for professional staff and students.
- Support the Divisional Chief Nurse in the establishment of a good working atmosphere and in making the most efficient/ effective use of staff, supplies and service
- Develop effective working relationships with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To provide high quality care to the patients admitted to the Orthopaedic ward in relevant areas of practice and manage areas of practice in the absence of senior staff.
- Post op and pre-op care of orthopaedic patients, including their inpatient rehabilitation
- Delivering high quality direct patient care
- Following patient admission/transfer/discharge processes
- Medication administration
- Care planning, implementation and evaluation, including nursing assessment, care plans and risk assessment completion and review.
- Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers
- Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research
- Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trusts policies and procedures

Swan ward is looking for dynamic staff nurses to work on this 35 bedded, orthopaedic ward, for a 12 month period to cover maternity leave. The ward accommodates emergency and elective trauma and orthopaedic patients, including pre-operative, peri-operative, post-operative and inpatient rehabilitation care needs.
