Full Job Description
The post holder will work primarily within the Specialist Medicine Day unit.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to the client group and will work
primarily within the Specialist Medicine Day Unit. The post holder will prioritise, assess, plan,
evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of care to an agreed and expected high standard.
He/She will work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the processes
that promote patient safety and quality of care in line with clinical governance frameworks.
We're a small, friendly, experienced team that work hard but genuinely enjoy what we are doing. We go out of our way to spend time with the patients and their families and hope this encourages better care. We are aware that it's hard work but, for the right person, it's a perfect opportunity to extend your skills within a center of excellence for care.
Extremely busy and fast paced. The day unit provides care for patients who require regular or one-off treatments / investigations.
The department is renowned for its excellent standards of care underpinned by evidence-based practice. The work within SMDU is sure to present exciting challenges and opportunities.
The role of Staff Nurse is both challenging and interesting. As well as co-coordinating the outpatient activity to ensure the service is well run and waiting times are kept to a minimum, you'll also get involved in service improvements within the department. A great chance to develop leadership skills that are patient-centered, you'll also be encouraged to expand and develop your knowledge, skills and competencies within a supported and friendly environment.
Competence with venapuncture and cannulation is a necessity however experience within a day case setting is not necessary. You must be willing to learn about the department. Integrity and vision, plus a real desire to take the service forward and expand the nursing role, are also essential., Disability Confident
