Full Job Description

  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based.
  • Individualised patient care.
  • Organise one's own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
  • Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
  • To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
  • Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.

    We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our growing and dynamic nursing team.
    • You will be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality emergency same-day care within a fast paced, evolving and exciting area of acute services. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the enthusiasm to be part of a forward thinking and innovative nursing team.Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months post registration experience and be competent in administering intravenous medications and fluids.

    This is an exciting time to join SDEC as we continue to expand our service and increase patient capacity. The unit sees approximately 80 patients per day with a wide variety of presentations, including renal colic, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), cellulitis, low risk chest pain and many others.     The role includes a mixture of long day shifts (08:00-20:30) and long day B shifts (09:30-22:00), incorporating weekends but no night shifts.We are also commencing an A&E / Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) rotational programme, offering staff the opportunity to gain experience across both clinical areas. This rotation will support skill development, broaden clinical exposure and strengthen collaborative working between services.
