Full Job Description
The post holder will be responsible for the surgical/anaesthetic assessment of all adult patients requiring surgical intervention covering all surgical specialities delivered by the trust. Responsible for the assessment of care needs of the patient and their clinical state, you will actively provide a high quality, individualised service in line with national standards as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
You will confirm the need for specified tests and investigations to ensure optimisation of the patient prior to surgery and escalate and/or arrange treatment for deranged results. You will also have the opportunity to become competent in clinical skills including Venepuncture, ECG, Spirometry and support the CPET to suit service needs. This service is provided as an Outpatient, Consultant Lead Service., 1. Assess patients clinical condition in line with NICE guidelines and policies.
2. Communicate effectively with patients and visitors and ensure that their needs for information are met.
3. Determine individualised investigations for all patients.
4. Review abnormal results and escalate/treat where appropriate.
5. Have an in-depth knowledge of the Nursing process and promote and support the use of the agreed model of individual patient care.
