Full Job Description

Are you a dedicated, compassionate, newly qualified nurse who trained in our trust and are committed to providing great care?, As a key member of the multidisciplinary care team, you will:

  • Carry out comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments considering mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors.
  • Work collaboratively with patients, carers, and other professionals to agree holistic, person-centred care plans.
  • Deliver and evaluate safe, competent care that supports recovery and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to service improvements and help us live our values every day - Caring, Inclusive, Curious, and Confident
  • Support Plan As a newly qualified nurse, you'll be fully supported through a structured 12-month preceptorship programme, including:
  • Dedicated supervision and protected learning time
  • Access to development opportunities such as the Edward Jenner programme and Phlebotomy certification
  • Ongoing support from our nurse education team, even if you move roles within the Trust

    Graduate Guarantee Commitment
  • This role is dedicated to newly qualified mental health nurses who have completed placements in Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. These posts have been created as part of our graduate guarantee commitment. Due to a low number of available Band 5 posts across the trust, some individuals will initially be sitting in a Band 3 post for budgetary purposes. Successful candidates are appointed, paid, and supported as Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses, regardless of whether the post was originally a Band 3 or Band 5 post. There is no effect on your banding, duties, or responsibilities, other than a potential move within your locality when transferring into a substantive Band 5 nurse post (where applicable), when these become available. We are committed to transparency and delivering a comprehensive support package as you begin your career. We are the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. We care for the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway. Our teams support adults with a wide range of mental health needs. Because we cover the whole county and both hospital and community settings, we can make care more joined up and easier to access for the 1.8 million people of Kent and Medway. Rated 'Good' by the CQC, we care for over 2,000 people in our hospitals and 54,000 in the community each year. Join us - if you share our passion for better mental health care and want to be part of a team that's doing well together.

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas. As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month. 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,303 per year and a maximum payment of £2,198 per year (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly) (2025 figures)
