Full Job Description
The band 5 staff nurse will be supported by the neonatal team to provide 24 hour care to preterm and critically ill babies covering a range of conditions including but not limited to; prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, jaundice and hypoglycaemia.
The post holder will work across both the neonatal unit and transitional care and promote a friendly and supportive atmosphere for patients and families by providing family integrated care( FiCare).
The postholder will be involved in the admission to discharge process working closely with the consultant, dietician, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist and other members of the MDT to ensure a seamless, timely discharge from hospital to the home environment.
The postholder will develop skills as a mentor in order to teach and supervise junior staff including student nurses and student midwives.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed nurses to join our existing professional neonatal team . We are part of the South London Perinatal Network. This is a busy level two unit with 22 cots.
We have 4 intensive care cots, 5 high dependency, and 13 special care cots. We offer ongoing professional development and education, with the opportunity to gain a 'Qualified in Specialty' (QIS) qualification in neonatology.
Qualifications: Registered Adult and Paediatric nurses with interest in gaining experience in caring for neonates and nurses who have some neonatal experience already, and would like to develop their knowledge and skills in this speciality.
