Full Job Description

  • To be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering holistic health care to the prison population based on a primary care model.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate high quality evidence based care within the boundaries of role.
  • To monitor long term conditions, deliver health promotion and screening and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive, signed and contemporaneous records both written and electronic in accordance with NMC Guidance for record keeping and CNWL Policy.

    You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Adult) with a real passion for delivering high quality clinical care. You will be self-motivated, flexible and work well within a team but be able to work autonomously. You do not need to have prison experience as we will provide you with a full induction and training.

    Work within the Primary Care Team is varied and includes triaging, emergency care and treatment, health promotion, end of life/palliative care, effective care planning and liaising with the multidisciplinary team. It's this variety that keeps things interesting and stimulating. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences but you'll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible from both the healthcare team and the prison team.
  • HMP Woodhill is a Category A/B prison accommodating approximately 600 adult male prisoners.
