An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Private Care at Guys, part of London Bridge Hospital. The Chemotherapy Day Unit provides a modern, patient-focused environment with 19 treatment chairs and a safe nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, enabling nurses to provide high-quality, personalised care to patients undergoing complex cancer treatments. As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will combine advanced clinical practice with shift leadership responsibilities. You will assess, plan and deliver individualised care to oncology and haematology patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), immunotherapies and other specialist infusions. You will also play a key role in supporting and mentoring colleagues, contributing to service development, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety., As a Senior Staff Nurse within the Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to oncology and haematology patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), immunotherapies and other specialist infusions. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised treatment plans, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care at all times. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will take a lead role in the day-to-day running of the unit, providing visible leadership and supporting the coordination of patient care throughout each shift. You will act as a role model for junior staff, offering guidance, mentorship and clinical support to promote professional development and maintain high standards of practice. You will work collaboratively with consultants, pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient experience and optimal clinical outcomes. The role also involves contributing to quality improvement initiatives, supporting clinical governance activities and promoting a culture of patient safety, continuous learning and service excellence. As part of a specialist cancer service, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive compassionate, personalised care throughout their treatment journey, while helping to maintain the exceptional standards for which Private Care at Guys is recognised., The Senior Staff Nurse will be responsible for delivering and coordinating high-quality, patient-centred care within the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Private Care at Guys. Working as part of a specialist oncology and haematology team, the post holder will provide expert clinical care to patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), immunotherapies, supportive therapies and other specialist infusions. The role combines advanced clinical practice with day-to-day leadership responsibilities, ensuring the safe and effective operation of the unit while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. The Senior Staff Nurse will act as a role model for nursing excellence, supporting colleagues, promoting professional development and contributing to service improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other specialist treatments.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of care for oncology and haematology patients.
• Administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) and other prescribed therapies in accordance with local policies, national guidelines and competency requirements.
• Monitor patients throughout treatment, recognising and responding appropriately to any changes in their condition.
• Provide patients and their families with information, education and emotional support throughout their treatment journey.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with professional and organisational standards.
• Promote patient safety, dignity, privacy and wellbeing at all times.
• Ensure the safe handling, administration and disposal of chemotherapy agents and other specialist medications.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Chemotherapy Day Unit during allocated shifts.
• Act as shift leader, ensuring safe staffing levels, effective patient flow and efficient utilisation of resources.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing colleagues, healthcare assistants and new team members.
• Support the induction, supervision, mentorship and development of nursing staff.
• Act as a professional role model, demonstrating high standards of clinical practice and professionalism.
• Escalate clinical concerns, risks and operational issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Support the implementation of departmental objectives and service developments.
Multidisciplinary Working
• Work collaboratively with consultants, pharmacists, allied health professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated and effective patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and contribute to treatment planning where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all areas of the service.
Quality, Governance and Improvement
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.
• Participate in audits, service evaluations and quality improvement projects.
• Adhere to organisational policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, clinical outcomes and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards, medicines management policies and health and safety regulations.
Professional Responsibilities
• Maintain active NMC registration and comply with the NMC Code at all times.
• Practice within professional scope and maintain competence in chemotherapy and specialist oncology nursing.
• Participate in mandatory training and continuing professional development activities.
• Keep up to date with developments in oncology, haematology and systemic anti-cancer treatments.

Working Environment The Chemotherapy Day Unit at Private Care at Guys provides specialist treatment for oncology and haematology patients within a modern, patient-focused environment. The unit comprises 19 chemotherapy treatment chairs and operates with a safe nurse-to-patient ratio, enabling the delivery of high-quality, personalised care. • Registered Adult Nurse with a current NMC registration.
• Currently working at Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse level (or equivalent) with a minimum of 12 months' experience in the role.
• Minimum of 12 months' experience administering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) within a chemotherapy setting.
• Demonstrable experience of leading and coordinating clinical shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care delivery.
• Proven experience caring for oncology and/or haematology patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other specialist treatments.
• Competent in the safe administration of chemotherapy and associated supportive therapies.
• Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to recognise and respond appropriately to patient deterioration.
• Experience supervising, supporting and developing nursing colleagues and junior team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, infection prevention and medicines management principles.
• Ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and make informed clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining clinical competency.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team environment., Experience participating in quality improvement projects, audits or service development initiatives.
• Mentorship, assessor or practice supervisor qualification.
• Experience working within a private healthcare setting.
