Staff Nurse

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our renowned Cancer Nursing Team at Private Care at Guys, a state-of-the-art private cancer centre rated Outstanding by the CQC. Based on our 20-bedded Haematology and Oncology inpatient ward, including dedicated stem cell transplant rooms, you will care for patients with a wide range of cancer and blood disorders throughout their treatment journey. Supported by structured training, mentorship and professional development opportunities, you will develop specialist skills while delivering outstanding, patient-centred care in a collaborative and highly supportive environment., As a Staff Nurse within the Haematology & Oncology Inpatient Ward, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to patients with a range of cancer and blood disorders, supporting them throughout their treatment journey. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, dignity and clinical excellence are maintained at all times. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will administer prescribed treatments and medications, monitor patient progress, recognise and respond to changing clinical conditions, and provide emotional support and education to patients and their families. You will develop specialist knowledge in oncology, haematology and stem cell transplantation while adhering to evidence-based practice and organisational policies. You will maintain accurate clinical documentation, contribute to patient discharge planning, and participate in quality improvement, audit and governance activities. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with oncology and haematology conditions.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and report changes in patients' conditions, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with organisational policies and NMC standards.
• Support patients undergoing complex cancer treatments and procedures.
• Provide emotional support, education and advice to patients and their families throughout the patient journey.
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy and respect at all times.
Multidisciplinary Working
• Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Contribute to discharge planning and the coordination of ongoing care requirements.
• Support the delivery of safe and effective patient pathways across the service.
Patient Safety and Quality
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures and all relevant clinical policies.
• Identify and escalate risks, incidents and safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives and governance activities.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
Professional Development
• Actively participate in training, education and continuing professional development activities.
• Develop specialist knowledge and skills within oncology, haematology and stem cell transplantation.
• Maintain compliance with mandatory training and professional registration requirements.
• Support junior colleagues, students and newly qualified staff where appropriate.

  Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Essential Experience
• Post-registration nursing experience within an acute healthcare setting.
• Experience delivering high-quality patient care in a ward environment.
• Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Essential Skills and Knowledge
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making abilities.
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively., Experience within Oncology, Haematology or Cancer Services.
• Chemotherapy administration experience or willingness to undertake specialist training.
• Experience caring for patients with complex medical needs.
• Knowledge of stem cell transplantation pathways.
