Staff Nurse

The Christie Private Care is seeking a motivated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our outstanding Oncology Unit in Manchester on a full-time, fixed-term basis until April 2027. Developed in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, The Christie Private Care is a specialist cancer centre providing a complete cancer care pathway, including diagnostics, inpatient, surgical, day-case and outpatient services. You will be responsible for ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care throughout their treatment journey, while meeting their medical, physical and emotional needs.,

• Delivering high standards of nursing care to oncology patients in accordance with clinical policies and procedures.
• Assessing patient needs, developing care plans and evaluating outcomes to ensure optimal patient experience and safety.
• Administering prescribed treatments and medications, including intravenous therapies, while adhering to best practice and safety standards.
• Monitoring patients throughout treatment, recognising and responding appropriately to changes in condition.
• Communicating effectively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and support.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Supporting the delivery of specialist oncology services across the patient pathway.
• Participating in ongoing training and professional development programmes, including specialist education in Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), stem cell administration and emerging cancer therapies., The Staff Nurse Oncology is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients receiving cancer treatment within The Christie Private Care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate treatment throughout their cancer journey.
The successful candidate will provide holistic care that addresses patients' physical, emotional and psychological needs while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice. They will monitor patient progress, administer prescribed treatments and medications, including intravenous therapies, and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition. The post holder will work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless care delivery. They will provide support and education to patients and their families, helping them to understand their treatment plans and make informed decisions about their care. A key aspect of the role is maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, adhering to organisational policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements. The Staff Nurse will actively contribute to patient safety initiatives, clinical governance activities and service improvement projects to support the ongoing delivery of outstanding care. The role offers the opportunity to develop specialist oncology knowledge and skills through structured training and professional development. This includes education in Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), stem cell administration and emerging cancer therapies, enabling the nurse to provide increasingly specialised care within a world-renowned cancer centre. The post holder will demonstrate excellent communication, professionalism and clinical judgement, acting as an advocate for patients and promoting a culture of compassion, respect and continuous improvement. They will be expected to maintain their NMC registration, participate in mandatory training and contribute positively to the development of the wider nursing team. • Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration (Adult Nurse).
• Evidence of post-registration clinical experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Experience delivering high standards of patient-centred care.
• Experience administering intravenous medications and therapies.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care effectively.
• Knowledge of professional nursing standards and the NMC Code.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrable understanding of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical governance principles.
• Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload in a busy clinical environment.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
• Ability to provide compassionate, holistic care that meets patients' physical, emotional and psychological needs., Previous oncology nursing experience.
• Experience caring for patients with complex medical needs.
• Chemotherapy or Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) experience.
• Oncology or cancer services experience.
• Relevant post-registration oncology qualification or willingness to undertake specialist oncology training.
• Experience working within a private healthcare setting.
• Mentorship, assessor or preceptor experience.
