Full Job Description

Responsible for gathering, collating and inputting SSI data in the trust local database and UKHSA SSI database designed to monitor such infections, conforming to tight timelines. Play an assisting role in maintaining a proactive approach to the prevention, control, investigation, and surveillance of surgical site infections and other healthcare-associated infections within the Trust, under the supervision of the IPC SSI Surveillance Nurse and other senior members of the IPCT. The SSI Coordinator/ Administrative support staff will demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables the individual to take responsibility for specific tasks delegated by the IPCT or in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. The staff will undertakes routine administrative tasks for the surveillance work and/or specifically identified tasks under the supervision of a qualified nurse, and where they have received training, support and instruction to reach a level of

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust aims to be a world-leading orthopaedic hospital with the best patient care and staff experience in the NHS., Be responsible for entering data onto local databases and feedback to clinical teams involved in conjunction with the infection prevention and control team.
To contribute to the development of SSI guidelines, protocols and policies at a local level. Have a central role of collecting SSI data throughout the trust, coordinating the collection of and preparing the data for submission to UKHSA; and for presentation of these to the Surgical Site Infection Prevention Group (SSIPG) and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC).
With the IPCT, support changes in practice as determined by the data analysis.
Contribute to writing reports and presenting project information to the SSIPG, IPCC, or other committees as necessary.
Send correspondence via emails and/or letters to patients, GPs, and Consultants regarding SSI follow up i.e. post-discharge questionnaires (PDQ) and/or MRSA positive from pre assessment screening and secure follow up results after treatment from the GP.
Liaise with Procurement Team to ensure that product ordered can be made available at the team when required., The Trust uses electronic new starter forms on Trac to collect personal details. Information collected is securely stored and used to set up the employee record on the ESR HR system.
