Full Job Description

Not every student succeeds sitting behind a desk. Some need someone who believes in them.
Someone who challenges them. Someone who understands that confidence can be built on a football pitch, basketball court, gym, or simply through a positive conversation.

We're looking for an exceptional Sports & Behaviour Mentor to join our pastoral team and make a real difference to the lives of young people.

This isn't just a sports role.

It's about helping students overcome barriers, improve behaviour, build resilience, develop confidence and re-engage with school through meaningful relationships and physical activity.

The Role

Working as part of our pastoral team, you'll:

· Mentor students who need additional behavioural or emotional support.

· Deliver dynamic sports and outdoor learning programmes - including Forest School sessions designed to boost student engagement, build character, and foster lifelong resilience.

· Support students with attendance, behaviour and reintegration.

· Build positive relationships with families and external agencies.

· Help students develop resilience, responsibility and self-belief.

· Organise sporting opportunities that encourage participation and success.

· Experience working with young people between 11 - 16 years old.

· A passion for sport and its power to transform lives.

· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

· Energy, resilience and a positive outlook.

· The ability to motivate, challenge and inspire.

Coaching and outdoor qualifications (eg. forest school), mentoring experience or behaviour support experience are welcomed but, above all, we're looking for someone with the right values, enthusiasm and commitment to helping young people succeed.

Alderman White School is a friendly, thriving and stimulating place to work and study. Our students are well-behaved and motivated. We have excellent support from parents and the community, and a talented and positive staff team. We are ambitious for every student and provide high-quality pastoral care and support, as well as outstanding enrichment opportunities for our students and the local community.

Staff wellbeing and development is very important to us - we offer a strong sense of community, high quality staffroom facilities and a carefully tailored staff development programme, centralised behaviour system, a feedback policy which takes account of workload, and access to health services through the Schools Advisory Service. PPA time is above the statutory requirement and can be taken off site.

The school is conveniently located 5 minutes from Junction 25 of the M1, close to the A52, as well as tram and bus routes, in a suburban area close to Nottingham University.

White Hills Park Trust comprises nine successful schools across Nottinghamshire, six primary, two secondary (one including a sixth form) and one special school. It's an exciting time as the Trust is embarking on a period of steady growth with further schools joining us soon. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing and career aspirations of our staff team.

Our partnership of schools is united by shared ethos and values, working in deep collaboration to give all our children the best possible start in life. Our mission is to provide the very best opportunities and outcomes for young people. Our staff work closely together to deliver high quality teaching and learning, share good practice, pool resources and participate in joint projects for the benefit of pupils.
