Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Speech and Language Therapy service based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn. This position will enable you to develop skills in the assessment and management of acquired communication difficulties and acute dysphagia with a range of conditions within supportive and friendly teams. The job will be split between the stroke and non stroke acute services. We welcome applications from newly qualified Band 5 SLTs , support will be provided to develop both NQP and dysphagia competencies. We strive to deliver high quality care in line with current evidence base and are committed to providing regular supervision and CPD. The successful postholder will be part of the acute medical SLT and Stroke SLT teams at the QEH providing assessment and therapy support for patients with acquired communication & / or swallowing impairments. You will work as part of the MDTs within the hospital as well as develop and maintain links with local community teams., To provide Speech and Language Therapy assessment, differential diagnosis and treatment for adults with acquired communication disorders across acute wards and stroke services at QEH. Provide dysphagia therapy for patients across acute wards and stroke services at QEH under supervision of specialist speech and language therapists and to develop skills in assessing dysphagia. To ensure a multi-professional approach is carried out in the implementation of patient care across acute wards and all stroke services., Admin & Clerical staff may be required to act as Loggists for a major incident. Everyone within the Trust has or will shortly need to have a minimum level of skill for computer literacy for their day-to day- work as we become more digitally mature. Therefore all staff should be computer literate.
