This post is open to newly qualified professionals and students who are due to complete their qualification during this calendar year. Successful applicants may receive a conditional offer subject to completion of training and registration.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to join our Learning Disabilities Service in Cornwall as a Speech & Language Therapist. The successful applicant will be working in the Cornwall Adult Learning Disabilities Team, based in the East Team and will offer a service to the East of Cornwall Learning Disability community as part of a dynamic and enthusiastic Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Ideal candidates will provide communication assessment and interventions using core speech and language therapy skills for individuals with a learning disability. The postholder will contribute to the assessment of eating and drinking difficulties under supervision from specialist speech and language therapists. This includes monitoring their health outcomes and progress through review of their care plan.
https://youtu.be/AAw8fv32fP8, Successful applicants will offer a service to a caseload of adults aged 18 and over with learning disabilities, who are referred to the service.To develop skills in community based speech and language therapy and understand the health needs of people with a learning disability.
A key aspect of the role is delivering training programmes relating to communication needs and dysphagia.The postholder will have a key role in working with people who have a learning disability, alongside a wide range of health professionals, other partners and agencies to reduce health inequalities and promote access to mainstream health services.
The postholder will be supported to carry out specialist assessment of those with complex needs under supervision, including those with complex communication and/or eating and drinking difficulties.
The postholder will also be supported to deliver specialist intervention such as keyword signing, intensive interaction and AAC.
