Full Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic SLT/ rehabilitationist to join the Manchester Auditory Implant Programme at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The Implant Programme is unique in providing hearing implant services for adults and children under one management structure within one hospital Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly skilled multi disciplinary team supporting individuals to maximise their communication outcomes , independence and quality of life through tailored rehabilitation. You'll deliver evidence based, person-centred therapy programmes, adapting approaches to meet individual needs., The post holder will provide a comprehensive specialist speech and language /aural habilitation therapy service, working autonomously with support from senior colleagues and within a multidisciplinary team providing support to profoundly deaf babies, children and adults.

The postholder will be expected to travel to see patients in their local environments and to provide specialist clinical expertise and support to local medical and educational professional staff and families.

The post holder will manage their own caseload and will participate in the service delivery of speech and language intervention to the patients within the Cochlear Implant Programme, adapting the therapy input and intervention as necessary based on service need, research and best practice under the direction of their line manager. The caseload will be babies, young children and adult patients.

You will have experience in working with young children and adults with hearing loss and /or complex communication needs, providing assessment and habilitation.

Cochlear implant experience is not essential but preferred and full training will be provided. There will be the opportunity to participate in on-going research projects.

You should have a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent. Additional qualifications in audiology, psychology or sign language are desirable.

The post involves centre, home and school-based services, so a full driving licence is essential.
