Full Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our adult Speech and Language Therapy team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will provide assessment and intervention for adults with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties, working collaboratively with patients, carers, care staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Undertake assessment, diagnosis, treatment and review of adults with communication and swallowing disorders, using evidence-based practice and relevant professional guidelines.
- Assess and manage dysphagia, including specialist oral motor and swallowing assessments.
- Provide clear, clinically appropriate recommendations to support safe eating, drinking and medication administration.
- Use appropriate assessment and treatment approaches, including relevant standardised assessments.
- Provide education, advice, support and training to patients, carers, care staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Eating and Drinking with Acknowledged Risks (EDAR) and its application within clinical practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational requirements.
- Manage and prioritise a clinical caseload effectively, ensuring appropriate follow-up and review.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and safe, effective service delivery.
