Full Job Description

Are you a motivated Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop your skills within a specialist Learning Disability Service? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Doncaster Learning Disability Team, working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to improving the health, wellbeing and communication outcomes of adults with learning disabilities.,

  • Assess, diagnose and provide intervention for adults with learning disabilities who have complex communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate person-centred treatment plans to support communication and safe eating and drinking.
  • Manage and prioritise a specialist caseload within community and clinic settings.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to families, carers, support providers and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to integrated multidisciplinary assessment, care planning and intervention.
  • Support the use of alternative and augmentative communication approaches where appropriate.
  • Deliver training and education to carers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in line with professional and Trust standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit, clinical governance and continuing professional development activities.

    You will hold a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and be a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). You will have a good understanding of communication disorders and dysphagia, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams and supporting adults with communication needs is desirable.
