Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for a conscientious, motivated and innovative speech therapist to work within the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Flying Start service. We require enthusiastic and positive practitioners who are pro-active and have a 'can do approach'. The post holder will be working as part of a dynamic team of Speech and Language practitioners, within Vale Flying Start Speech and Language Team. The post holder will be supporting identified families at a Universal and Targeted level with a remit for the prevention and early identification of Speech, Language and Communication Needs. The post holder will implement the Flying Start Speech, Language and Communication initiatives to children aged 0-4 years old, living in or accessing Flying Startservices. The nature of the service delivered may evolve and change of time to reflect approved Flying Start Funded projects. Main duties of the job The post holder will facilitate and empower parents and carers to promote the development of children's communication in close collaboration with other Flying Start team members, actively involving parents in all aspects of their child's communication development, promoting parenting skills and supporting families to access to other support networks. The post holder will advise and/or train parents, carers, Flying Start workers, childcare staff and others in the child's environment on facilitating and enhancing the child's communication development and environment. The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development of the Flying Start Speech and Language service.   • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council

  • Experience of providing training to other professionals
