Full Job Description

We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our transdisciplinary team at Robert Ogden School. You will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, neuroaffirming, evidence-informed Speech and Language Therapy service for autistic children and young people with diverse profiles and associated needs. This role focuses on supporting communication, interaction, participation, and access to learning, reducing barriers to engagement, and helping to create inclusive, communication-friendly learning environments. You will work collaboratively with education staff, families, and other professionals to ensure that speech and language therapy is embedded within everyday school practice and aligned with each pupil's strengths, needs, and aspirations. What You'll Do

  • Deliver speech and language therapy assessment, intervention, advice, and review for pupils with a range of communication needs and neurodevelopmental profiles.
  • Contribute to a high-quality, neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-informed therapy service for autistic children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, families, and other professionals to embed communication strategies within everyday routines, learning, and the wider school day.

    We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who:
  • Is HCPC registered and a member of RCSLT
  • Has experience (or a strong interest) in working with autistic children and young people
  • Is committed to neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-informed practice
  • Enjoys collaborative, transdisciplinary working
  • Has strong communication, organisational, and reflective practice skills
  • Is motivated, compassionate, and committed to improving outcomes for pupils and families
  • Whether you are developing your specialist autism experience or bringing established expertise, you will be supported through supervision, CPD, and a strong team culture.

    £29,970 - £44,962 Contract NEW Package Description: To protect our autistic pupils and young adults within the National Autistic Society, all employees will be required to complete the relevant safeguarding checks which will include additional references and criminal background checks., This role is a 1 year fixed-term contract (35 hours per week) with 12 weeks paid holiday a year, which must be taken within the existing school holidays for your school.
