Full Job Description

In this role, you will deliver highquality Speech and Language Therapy to service users within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service in BaNES.You will be an active and committed member of both the local and wider SLT community, contributing to a culture of learning and professional excellence.Working closely with service users, their families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will empower individuals to understand their condition, build confidence, and increase selfmanagement.Through your work, you will help improve quality of life, participation, and independence for every person you support.,
- Independently assess and diagnose complex communication and swallowing difficulties across a range of settings.
- Deliver evidencebased interventions, including intensive dysphagia and aphasia therapy.
- Manage an independent caseload, providing skilled, personcentred interventions for adults with communication needs arising from a variety of acquired neurological conditions.
- Triage and prioritise new referrals, offering timely advice to referrers and making appropriate decisions about ongoing care and management.
- Provide training, advice, and education to colleagues, carers, and other professionals on supporting adults with communication and swallowing needs.
- Use outcome measures effectively to demonstrate clinical progress and support service performance.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with service users, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to support selfmanagement and enhance quality of life.
- Be an active, valued member of the team, contributing to a positive culture and maintaining strong connections across the wider healthcare system.
- Maintain uptodate clinical skills and knowledge, engaging in ongoing professional development and completing all required mandatory training.
- Supervise junior staff or students where appropriate, and take part in regular supervision as per service guidelines.
- Participate fully in team meetings and contribute to service development and shared objectives.
At least 2 years experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. - Recognised degree or clinical qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registered with HCPC and RCSLT.
- Recognised dysphagia qualification or accredited training (Level B dysphagia competence or above).
- Experience independently managing a busy caseload and triaging referrals appropriately.
- Experience working in community settings or similar environments, supporting adults with a range of acquired neurological conditions.
- Competent in a wide range of communication and swallowing assessments and treatments, following current bestpractice guidelines.
- Experience assessing mental capacity and supporting individuals with significant communication difficulties to make decisions wherever possible.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience providing training and support to family members or carers around communication and/or eating, drinking, and swallowing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including good IT skills, organisational ability, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Experience recognising and raising safeguarding concerns, with appropriate support.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Confident presenting to a range of audiences.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes. Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising other professionals or students.
- Awareness of the wider healthcare environment, including current challenges and system changes.
- Training or qualifications in leadership, people management, or change management.
- Experience in videofluoroscopy and relevant competencies.
