Full Job Description

The post-holder will be expected to participate and provide medical leadership in the absence of their consultant at all board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings on their Post-Acute Medical ward. He/she will be expected to help organise and support the junior staff in the day-to-day running of the ward. He/she will be expected to ensure discharge summaries are appropriately completed by junior staff detailing ongoing plans and handover of care, they will also help coordinate discharge planning for all patients. The post holder will be expected to participate in clinical governance activities on the ward including infection control and antibiotic audits. He/she will also be expected to help deliver teaching and training to more junior colleagues including MRCP PACES teaching. He/she will be expected to deliver teaching and training to year 5 medical students attached to the ward. All of this will be under the direct supervision of the attending Consultant and as such is a
much-supported role.

There will be opportunities to work with a range of medical sub-specialists and where possible specific training (procedural or clinic-based) opportunities can be sought. Outpatient experience will be encouraged and supported within specialty level activity, tailored to an individual's training needs., The post will be based at Denmark Hill site.

The On-Call commitment is for a 1:5/1:6 rota. There is a commitment to undertake routine job planned work on Saturdays or Sundays as part of the total job planned. This is subject to review within 3 months of the postholder commencing in post.

As a senior employee of the Trust, you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. o Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London / KHP

o Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies

o Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans

o Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust

£67,325 to £76,582 a year per annum plus London Weighting £2,162 & oncall supplement TBD
