Full Job Description
The post holder will support the Medical Director in providing high-quality palliative care services at the West Midlands Hospice, primarily by providing medical support for a 12-bed in-patient unit and a community team. This role involves participation in training and educational activities as well as activities relating to maintaining clinical excellence within the service.

- Full GMC registration, a licence to practiceand at least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities/or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies).MB ChB or equivalent
- Postgraduate experience within the NHS
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Communication skills that are sensitive to patients and carers, Completion of Foundation Training or equivalent and at least a further 2 years full-time post-graduate experience in a recognised training programme (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis). Or a demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies. Desirable
- Higher Medical Qualification, e.g. MRCP, MRCGP
- Diploma in Palliative Medicine Experience Essential
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise, and at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)
- Audit skills
- Teaching skills
- Counselling skills that are sensitive to patients and carers
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communications skills Desirable
- Experience of palliative care provision
- Knowledge and experience of management of symptoms associated with terminal illnesses, including non-malignant conditions
- Research interest Personality/Aptitude/Motivation Essential
- Good listener
- Flexible
- Able to motivate others
- Ability to liaise efficiently and effectively with healthcare teams outside the hospice
- Ability to work autonomously and use initiative while recognising own limitations and seeking help appropriately Desirable
