This post is one of the existing posts which provide middle grade cover to the general paediatric, neonatal and outpatient clinics under supervision of the consultants., The Paediatric Registrar will work as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, safe and compassionate care to neonates, infants, children and young people. The postholder will work under consultant supervision while providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior medical staff.

The on call commitment is shared with the other middle grade staff. The rota does include prospective cover for annual leave and study leave.

There are a minimum of two middle grade doctors on shift daytime until 9pm and three overnight 9pm-9am. Doctors are allocated an area of primary responsibility but will be expected to move across all paediatric areas as required. The above mentioned programme has to be read in conjunction with the proposed work programme. Obviously it may need to be varied to meet the needs of the service and to maintain patient care.
