Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity, to which we are looking to appoint an experienced Specialty Doctor to join the medical team. The post holder will be expected to provide SAS level input into the service. The Wells Road Centre provides low secure inpatient services for adult men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorder, as well as services to adult men with intellectual disability. Our services include:

  • Male Mental Illness Services - admission, assessment, continuing care and rehabilitation.
  • Male Intellectual Disability Service - a treatment programme for patients with mild to severe intellectual disabilities.
  • Women's Service - admission, assessment and rehabilitation for patients with mental illness and/or personality disorder.
  • The Wells Road Centre is part of the NHS-led service provider collaborative in the East Midlands called IMPACT. Through this we work to improve patient and carer experience, seeking the best possible outcomes for our patients transitioning from secure care into community mental health services. The Wells Road centre is also part of the Low Secure & Community Forensic Care Unit and works closely with Community Forensic Teams.Main duties of the job The post holder will be allocated to the inpatient service at The Wells Road Centre and will be allocated to Trent, Seacole and Lister wards. They will be expected to take responsibility for part or all of the relevant inpatient case load (up to 30 patients). It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over 5 days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinical manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder. The overall split of the programmed activities is 8 to be devoted to Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 to Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and associate medical director or clinical manager three months after commencing the post and at least annually thereafter.
