Full Job Description
Trauma and Orthopaedic Speciality grade Foot and Ankle Doctor. The post holder will form part of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate, working across all University Hospitals Dorset sites. A specialist interest to complement existing expertise within the department is sought, especially in Foot and Ankle surgery.
This post will be paid on the Speciality Grade, at 10 basic PAs with an out of hours commitment (weekend trauma operating, 1 in 5)
The newappointee will:
Undertake regular Foot and Ankle elective and trauma theatre lists/ LA Procedure room lists
Undertake regular virtual and face to face elective outpatient and fracture clinics.
Support and supervise junior doctors and middle grade staff.
Undertake ward rounds and patient review., Working alongside our existing specialty doctors and trainee Trauma & Orthopaedic registrars to provide care to inpatients including new admissions
Supervision and support of junior medical colleagues, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners
Maintaining continued professional development
Attending multidisciplinary meetings
Attending and contributing to educational sessions and Clinical Governance meetings
Partaking in departmental Quality Improvement work
Teaching Medical and Physician's Associates students
Participating in the hospital appraisal process as part of on-going professional development
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site in Dec/Feb 2027, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
