Full Job Description

This permanent fulltime role is based at the Osborn Centre, providing specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and case management for children and young people aged 0--18. The post sits within Hampshire & Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust's CAMHS service, working in a well established multidisciplinary team that includes consultants, nonmedical prescribers, psychologists, nurses and therapists. The doctor will deliver direct clinical care through face to face and remote consultations, manage urgent presentations, contribute to MDT discussions, and liaise closely with paediatrics, social care, education and crisis services such as i2i and PPLT. As stated, the role requires "mental health assessment, treatment and case management; according to criteria agreed with local commissioners." The post includes participation in clinical governance, audit, CPD, supervision, and teaching. There is currently no out of hours on call, though future rota involvement may develop. The Trust provides strong administrative support, protected CPD time, study leave, and opportunities for CESR development. The doctor is expected to uphold safeguarding responsibilities and maintain high standards of professional practice, with the ability to manage complex, emotive clinical situations and competing demands. The document notes the need to "deal with distressing or emotional circumstances and take care of own wellbeing."Main duties of the job

  • To balance demand for both scheduled and unscheduled clinical care in collaboration with colleagues and service managers.
  • To participate in team and peer clinical supervision and co-working arrangements.
  • To join the local Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists' Peer Supervision and Continuing Professional Development Group.
  • To respond flexibly to the reasonable requests of the service for exceptional unplanned activity such as may be required and for gradual change in the Consultant role as part of the evolution of children's services
