Specialty Doctor Dermatology

This post offers valuable experience in community dermatology, including GP liaison, teledermatology triage and delivery of skin health initiatives, supporting development towards General Medical Council Portfolio Pathway and British Association of Dermatologists CiP 3 competencies.

The post holder will diagnose, treat and manage patients with a wide range of dermatological conditions referred to the community Skin Health Service by GPs in East and North Hertfordshire including onward referrals of 2ww to secondary care. The postholder will undertake minor operations and dermatology consultations including cryotherapy and injection clinics within a community setting., The post holder will work as part of a team of Skin Health Service doctors, with support from the Clinical Lead.

The Skin Health Service comprises of a clinical lead (who is also the clinical supervisor for the GPwER and a senior visiting fellow at the University of Hertfordshire), 3 Specialist doctors, 3 GPwERs and 2 GPwERs in Development and a Plastic Surgeon. The service is supported by an operational lead, a service coordinator, and a team of administrators. HCT are currently sourcing a consultant dermatologist to join the team, in a joint post with a secondary care provider. The Skin Health Service provides a single point of contact for all skin health referrals (i.e. dermatology and minor surgery), a robust triage process and the provision of specialist community dermatology and minor surgery, where the patient can be seen by both a dermatology specialist for assessment and have an operative procedure at the same time, where appropriate.
