Specialty Doctor Assertive Outreach Team

We are seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor to work 8 sessions per week, on a six month fixed term contract, within our Assertive Outreach team. The team provides intensive support to people who are suffering from a mental health problem and are the most vulnerable. They support people who have historically avoided contact with mental health services and do this using a flexible and creative approach to engagement. The post holder will support the Consultant Psychiatrist to co-ordinate and deliver care plan through multidisciplinary working arrangements to the Solihull Assertive Outreach service. The clinical base is Lyndon Clinic, Solihull, B92 8PW. The successful candidate will require full registration with the General Medical Council and have completed at least four years' postgraduate training at least two of which will be within a psychiatry training programme or equivalent experience and competences. Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Assessment of service user needs with emphasis on collaborative working.
• Working with service users and their families and carers, building upon their strengths and abilities.
• Tailored assessments and interventions around Coping Strategies, Managing Risk, Relapse Prevention, Substance Misuse, Psychological Interventions, Medication Management and promotion of Engagement with Treatment Plans.
• Development or risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the multi disciplinary team.
• Assessments under the Mental Health Act where appropriate
• Assisting service users in maintaining good physical health.
