Full Job Description

The postholder will be a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist primarily working at the Royal London Hospital although some rotations are based within Community or Outpatient settings and there is also an opportunity for a rotation in the Acute Paediatric SLT team. The post holder will be part of a team providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. The postholder will work as part of the acute SLT team and wider MDT and will be supported and supervised by a Highly Specialist SLT as well as their Clinical Lead SLT. The postholder may be required to supervise band 5 staff if appropriate. The post is rotational. The teams the post rotate through are as follows:

  • Royal London Hospital Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) and Tower Hamlets Community Stroke Services (CST)
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery wards
  • Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR)
  • General Medical & Surgical wards
  • Neurology & Neurosurgery including Major Trauma
  • Tower Hamlets Community Neuro Team
  • Adult Critical Care
  • Acute Paediatrics
  • Head & Neck / ENT
  • The rotations are subject to changes or re-configuration of the services.
