Full Job Description
Lime Wood Primary School is excited to be recruiting a committed, skilled and compassionate SRP SEND Teaching Assistant to support our Specialist Resource Provision. This provision is designed to meet the needs of pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) where the primary needs are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new and inclusive educational setting from the start, helping to shape practice, build relationships, and provide specialist support that transforms children's lives. Lime Wood Primary School is a growing school located in the heart of Erith. As a new school, Lime Wood Primary currently welcomes Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils and will expand in the coming years to welcome new pupil intake. The school roll will gradually increase year on year until it reaches full capacity as a 3-form entry primary school. The SRP will support children from EYFS KS1 and KS2. You will be working as part of a dedicated team delivering tailored support to children with ASD and SLCN. This will include 1:1 support, small group interventions, and working within both the SRP base and mainstream classrooms, as appropriate. Your job role will include:
- Delivering individualised support strategies in line with EHCP outcomes.
- Supporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction.
- Collaborating with the SRP Lead Teacher, class teachers, therapists, and families.
- Supporting with assessments, observations, and learning journals.
- Helping to maintain a calm, safe, and predictable learning environment.
- Encouraging independence and personal development.
- Using visual supports, sensory tools, and communication aids (PECS, Makaton, etc.)
- Contributing to reviews and planning meetings for pupils.
A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning in schools (Level 2 or above). - Experience working with children with SEND, ideally with ASD or SLCN.
- Knowledge of sensory integration strategies, early communication support, or social stories.
- A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach to meeting children's complex needs.
- The ability to respond calmly to behaviours that challenge.
- An understanding of or willingness to train in specialist approaches (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, Zones of Regulation).
- A commitment to inclusive education and belief in every child's potential.
