Full Job Description

The Specialist Psychotherapist team offers psychotherapy to a a diverse population including individuals with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and/or Epilepsy. The successful applicant would be joining a well established team that have a track record of working collaboratively and supportively to achieve improvement in symptoms and quality of life. The successful applicant would be expected to manage a clinical psychotherapy caseload, as well as contribute to discussion about wider service delivery and improvement with opportunities to engage in local and national research into this specialist area.,

  • To establish/maintain a psychotherapy service for patients with functional neurological symptoms or psychological difficulties linked to other neurological conditions such as epilepsy.
  • To offer a front-line psychotherapy service for neurology patients, delivering psychotherapy to meet the diverse needs of service users.
  • Deliver trauma informed psychotherapy when appropriate.
  • To provide a versatile service, responding positively to individual needs including language, nationality, ethnicity, sexuality, learning ability, communication style, mental health, gender identification, physical health conditions.
  • To develop understanding and promote awareness within a defined catchment area and the broader medical community of the interaction between psychological and physical dimensions of neurological illness.
