Full Job Description

As a Specialist Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering holistic assessments that take into account not only the medical needs of the children, but also their emotional, social, and educational requirements. Your approach will be child-centred and family-focused, ensuring that each assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of the child's strengths and challenges. You will use a range of assessment tools and techniques, engaging with children and families to develop tailored care plans that promote wellbeing, independence, and inclusion.
Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Working

You will be an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team, working alongside professionals from healthcare, education, social care, and allied services. Together, you will share expertise, information, and perspectives to develop holistic interventions and support strategies.

+ The chance to make a lasting difference in children's lives, The post holder will contribute to the co-ordination and delivery of a high quality specialist service to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. Work as part of a multidisciplinary Paediatric team providing assessment to children and young people for Powys Teaching Health Board under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Practitioner. This will include the ongoing development of an innovative service for children, young people and their families who have either an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Clinical duties
+ Autonomous practitioner responsible for planning, organising and prioritising own caseload
+ Contribute to the assessment and diagnosis of Neurodevelopmental disorders as part of a multi-disciplinary team and sharing the diagnosis with families as required.
+ Liaise with families and multi-agency professionals in relation to diagnostic pathways and management of Neurodevelopment disorders.
+ Act as a specialist resource to colleagues and families in the management of ADHD and ASD, including pre and post diagnostic counselling, information and advice.
+ Maintain a high level of clinical knowledge and keep abreast of new
developments in the field of Neurodevelopmental disorders
+ Empower families regarding parenting and/or behaviour/self-management skills.
+ Identify and assess situations and conditions that put a child at risk of abuse/neglect adhering to local Child Protection procedures

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
