Full Job Description

The role involves provision of occupational therapy assessment and intervention in one of seven specialty areas at Great Ormond Street Hospital. You will work alongside occupational therapy colleagues as part of multidisciplinary teams, providing exemplary care for children and young people with complex conditions. Whilst most of the rotational specialities involve working on the acute wards, there is also some outpatient clinic work and the opportunity to offer a variety of interventions both individually and in conjunction with other professionals. Due to the nature of the wards, the ability to work flexibly at a fast pace, and to autonomously clinically reason when presented with complex scenarios is a must. Liaison with children's local services is paramount to ensure continuity of care and safe discharge, and expert communication skills are therefore a necessity. The role also involves input into the Pan Hospital Wheelchair Service and previous experience of assessing for and
providing a wide range of wheelchairs and seating systems would be extremely beneficial.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual who has both the competencies required to work with children and young people to maximise occupational engagement, and the capability to do so within a tertiary level setting.

The Occupational Therapy Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital have a vacancy in our newly established Band 6 Rotation. This exciting opportunity offers you the opportunity to work in a world-renowned tertiary hospital with children and young people, within the following specialty areas, We are keen to make our workforce as diverse as the communities we serve, and we hope to attract applications from underrepresented groups, including people with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage, people with a disability, and people from LGBTQ+ communities. By growing an ever more diverse workforce, we'll have a greater range of perspectives and knowledge, meaning that we can provide the children and young people at our hospital with even better care.

Our hospital is committed to creating an environment that is open and inclusive. Our staff are encouraged to engage with colleagues through the following networks: REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) ENABLED (Enhancing Abilities & Leveraging Disabilities Network), PRIDE and Women's networks; all of which are sponsored by a member of our Executive Management Team.

We want to ensure that all of our people, regardless of their background, are seen and heard. We want to attract applicants that share our commitment to inclusion and that understand diversity is a strength that is embraced and valued.
