Specialist Nurse for Children Looked After in Harrow and Hillingdon

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed professional to join the Harrow and Hillingdon Children Looked After Team as a Specialist Nurse for Children Looked After. We are looking for a nurse who has experience of working with children, young people and families within the community, and a sound knowledge of the needs of children looked after. The successful candidate will support the Named Nurse for Children Looked After, be able to work autonomously, undertake high quality Looked After Children statutory health assessments and health promotion activities in accordance with the guidance document 'Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked After Children' (DH & DoE 2015 / 2022)., The specialist nurse will work as an integral part of a the Harrow and Hillingdon Looked After Children's multi-agency service to provide a seamless pathway for the holistic care of Children Looked After. The post holder will improve health and well-being outcomes for Harrow and Hillingdon Children Looked After and children placed within the London Borough of Harrow or Hillingdon . The Specialist Nurse for Children Looked After will provide a direct clinical service to Children Looked After, contributing to the identification and assessment of their health needs and improving health outcomes. He / she will provide expert advice to carers, health professionals and partners in social services and other agencies. He /she will support the Named Nurse to ensure that the team meets responsibilities towards Children Looked After.

The post is Band 7, 37.5 hours per week, based at Westmead Clinic. If you are a highly motivated individual who is passionate about improving the health outcomes of children looked after, we would like to hear from you.

You will join a small friendly team of nursing , medical and administrative staff providing services to Harrow and Hillingdon Children Looked After. There will be opportunities for professional development , coaching and supervision from our Named Nurse Children Looked After The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.
