Specialist Nurse Chronic Pelvic Pain

The post holder will work closely with Consultant Gynaecologists, Senior Fellows, Pain Psychologists, Pelvic Health Physiotherapists, GPs, mental health services and other professionals as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. The role includes independently led specialist clinics, requiring a high level of autonomy, clinical judgement and responsibility. Key responsibilities include assessing patients, developing and reviewing individualised treatment plans, discussing hormonal and analgesic options, monitoring response to treatment, identifying when further investigation or escalation is required, and ensuring safe, effective and person-centred care. Patient education and self-management support are a core part of the role. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will help patients understand persistent pain, treatment expectations and practical strategies for managing symptoms, including pacing, exercise, lifestyle modification and behavioural change. The post holder will also contribute to joint appointments, MDT discussions and structured pain management programmes, using motivational interviewing techniques to support realistic and achievable goals., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

This specialist role is central to the assessment, management and ongoing support of patients with complex pain presentations, using a holistic approach that considers the physical, psychological and social impact of persistent pain.,
