Specialist Nurse Band 7

The post holder will be required to work effectively, both as an independent practitioner and as a member of a paediatric oncology multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will be expected to provide skilled excellent, specialist oncology nursing care and advice. The post holder will empower the child/young person and their carers throughout the duration of their cancer treatment. The post holder will be competent and confident in delivering care to the child/young person. The post holder will be required to liaise effectively with principal treatment Centre's and other health care teams and act as a resource to other health professionals.

The post holder will help to ensure that the training and competence of ward staff, day unit staff and community nursing teams is upheld in relation to the care of children and young people with cancer., To provide strong clinical leadership and expertise across both sites of the POSCU, working closely with and supporting the lead and deputy lead clinicians and Wider MDT to ensure equitable delivery of safe, high quality, complex effective care and support for any child with a cancer diagnosis and their family/carers.

To work with Community team leads and Paediatric Macmillan nurse to ensure all oncology related training requirements are met.

To work with the Clinical Lead/ deputy lead, Hospital service management team and PTC to ensure the requirements of the POSCU service specification and quality measures for the POSCU are met, maintained and improved, year on year and to ensure POSCU status is maintained at both sites of the POSCU.

To work collaboratively across organisational and professional boundaries to actively participate, lead on, advise and influence the direction children's oncology nursing locally and across the East Midlands, including representing POSCU at a network level as required.

To act as an expert resource for colleagues and other professionals who care for and support the Children's and Young Persons' oncology service within the Trust.

Be responsible for the development and delivery of training, with support and approval of the Regional Nurse Educator, to meet the requirements of the POSCU Service Specification (NOV 21)

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
