Specialist Mental Health Practitioner-Parent and Infant Mental Health

This is an exciting fixed term opportunity to join our well established Parent- Infant Specialist Mental Health Team., The post holder will work as a specialist practitioner contributing to the development and delivery of our pathways across the Thrive Framework.

The role also entails working collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to provide the best service for Wigan families. The postholder will provide assessment and intervention for parents/carers and infants, young children and their families. The role will also entail signposting and supporting families to access family provisions commissioned within Wigan

This role will require the position holder to promote infant mental health and the benefits of accessing earlier parent infant mental health support while support professionals to recognise barriers to the parent infant relationship.

The development of the workforce working with families is a keep part of the role and will entail the development of identified training and delivery. The role involves acting as a specialist resource and contributing to multi-agency training of relevant professionals across Wigan. The post holder will also provide consultation and clinical supervision to professional colleagues and the wider network.

The post is based in Wigan's Building Attachment and Bonds Specialist Team (BABS) which is a Parent Infant Mental Health (PIMH) service located in the Community CAMHS division within Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust.. BABS has been commissioned to provide a clinical service and provide strategic leadership, training and workforce development in the perinatal period up until the child's 3rd birthday across the borough.

The service has good working relationships with the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Teams, Maternity Services, Children's Centres, Adult Mental Health, Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Services, Voluntary sector and Children's Social Care, etc. BABS provides a clinical service, training, consultation, and supervision across the large multi-agency network of mixed professionals., Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over6,400members of staff, who deliver services from more than160locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford,Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.
