Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Specialist Mechanical Engineer/Workshop Managerwho shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. The Bioengineering team provides a repair, maintenance and manufacture service to the cancer centre. The department is split into 3 sections - the mechanical workshop, EBME and radiotherapy engineering. All three teams work together to ensure that cancer patients are treated in a safe and timely manner. The mechanical workshop provides a manufacturing service for the cancer centre producing customised equipment that can not readily be purchased. Candidates must be flexible and keen to be involved in helping patients. They will be innovative in finding solutions to the challenges that they are given within the resources of the NHS., The post holder will work closely with the other two teams to provide mechanical engineering skills to the respective team. The post holder will work closely with the radiographers and physics staff to produce patient specific, custom shielding and other aids to ensure that that radiotherapy treatment can be performed in a reproducible and safe way.

    In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137 per annum pro rata.
