Specialist Grade Geriatrician

The Trust is recruiting a Specialist Grade doctor in Geriatric Medicine to join the established team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich. This post is designed for experienced clinicians with at least 12 years of clinical practice, including a minimum of 6 years at middle-grade level or above in Geriatric Medicine. The successful candidate will join a dynamic department currently comprising eight substantive geriatricians, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, person-centred care for older adults, delivering comprehensive assessments across our service. The post has been created to support and expand innovative models of care for frail older patients. The Trust operates a dedicated frailty pathway, including an Acute Frailty Unit (AFU) and a Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service. These units provide rapid specialist assessment, early therapy involvement, and integrated discharge planning to reduce unnecessary admissions and improve patient flow. To support professional development, the post holder will be offered a mentor from within the Trust, either from the geriatric medicine department or another specialty. • Support and further develop the geriatric service withinthe Trust
• Participate in the frailty on-call Rota at QEH
• Be an advocate for the care of older people within theorganization.
• Lead, support and mentor junior medical staff withinthe department and ensure training requirements aremet, 1. Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development
2. Widening access (anchor institution) and employability 3. Improving the experience of staff with disability 4. Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development 5. Making equalities mainstream
