Specialist Doctor in Cellular Pathology

This is a 12 month fixed term position for the role of Specialist Doctor in the Department of Cellular Pathology. The appointed candidate will be responsible for the clinical reporting of high volume, lower complexity cases in the department across a range of general histopathology areas. The position will require you to work autonomously to a level of defined competencies, as agreed within local clinical governance frameworks and the departmental clinical lead. There is a departmental focus on turn around times and the timely reporting of cases. The candidate will work independently to deliver histopathology reporting and their competencies will cover the breadth of presentations expected in their role. The role will primarily focus on providing direct clinical care, and meeting service delivery demands. The details of the balance between clinical care and other elements of the role would be discussed during the job planning process. There is no requirement for MDT attendance., The generic duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.

Clinical Duties:

? Reporting of histopathology specimens to a high standard? Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.? Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support)? Participation in clinical audit and in continuing medical education.? Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
