Specialist Doctor

The post-holder will work under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist and will be integral to a multidisciplinary team, accessing local CPD activities as appropriate.

• 10 PAs
• The specialist doctor will work autonomously to a level of defined competencies, as agreed with the local clinical governance framework.
• Specialist Doctor will provide the expertise in specialized area and work closely with the consultant and multi disciplinary team.
• The doctor will provide clinical support for the assessment and management of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis.
• 8 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care. Care of patients in the community in Dunstable CMHT, in the Functional Model."
• 2 Sessions will be for supporting professional activities
• Specialist Doctor will assess new referrals and review existing patients. 6 to 7 out-patient clinics per week either at the base of the Dunstable CMHT or designated GP Surgery.
• Additional clinics to see patients in emergency &/ provide telephone contact with patients and their carer's to manage urgent queries.
• CPA meetings, Professional meetings, Case Conferences and home visits as necessary.
• Liaise with team members and provide telephone and face to face contact to members of the team and see patients urgently.
• Triage referrals regularly in Blended triage meetings to provide a safe, prompt and appropriate service to the person who was referred.
• Provide face to face and telephone liaison service to other secondary mental health teams, General Practitioners and Primary care workers
