If so, we are looking for you!, We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven senior nurse with excellent clinical and leadership skills to join our Spinal Cord Injury Centre. The Specialist Discharge Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will lead on the effective coordination and management of discharge planning and the provision of highly specialist discharge advice and guidance in relation to the discharge of patients from PRSCIC, working closely with patients, carers and the wider MDT, ensuring high quality patient experience.

The successful candidate will have proven leadership and interpersonal skills, work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team and encourage and empower the nursing team to achieve their maximum potential.

We are seeking a registered nurse who:

Has extensive post-registration experience and strong knowledge of system discharge within primary or secondary care.

Has significant experience at Sister/Charge Nurse level, including leading the assessment and planning of complex discharges.

Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills, including staff supervision, wellbeing and managing change.

Is able to prioritise and manage competing pressures for themselves, their team and the wider MDT.

Communicates confidently, able to present and receive complex and sensitive information with staff, patients and relatives.

Works autonomously as a confident decision-maker, directing MDT activity appropriately.

Is committed to clinical governance, audit and continuous service improvement.

Demonstrates inclusive and compassionate leadership, flexibility, teamwork and alignment with Trust PROUD values.

Ideally has experience of working with spinal cord injury patients or patients with long-term neurological conditions

The Sheffield Spinal Cord Injuries Centre is one of the largest SCICs in the UK. We are a 60 bedded (3 ward) purpose-built centre providing comprehensive holistic care to patients with spinal cord injury. The unit provides care to patients, following acute injury, including those patients who require invasive mechanical ventilation assistance, supporting all patients with individualised plans of care to maximise their rehabilitation potential. The centre also provides a service for patients who require readmission for a variety of surgical procedures including pressure ulcer repair, insertion of baclofen pumps, tendon releases, urological surgery and non-surgical complications related to their spinal cord injury., You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.
