Full Job Description

  • Provision of expert, high-quality, patient-centred clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. Note this service is predominantly the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) within haematology.
  • Undertaking the role of an independent prescriber.
  • Support the introduction of new and emerging treatments.
  • Support trust medicines optimisation and medicines governance priorities.
  • Support effective management of high cost drugs.
  • Provide specialist advice to medical, nursing and pharmacy teams on all aspects of haematology medicines as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Undertake the duties of an 'Authorised Pharmacist,' taking responsibility for the final release of aseptically prepared injectable medicines, ensuring full compliance with legal, safety and quality standards.
  • Support the education, training and development of pharmacy trainees and other healthcare professionals.
  • Lead on service improvements and contribute to audit and research activities as part of our drive to continuously improve care for our patients.
  • You will also be required to support the pharmacy dispensary weekend and pharmacist emergency duty service as part of a rota.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System.
