Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Emergency and Acute Care

We're delighted to invite applications to join our team of Emergency and Acute Care (EAC) Specialist Clinical Pharmacists at the Queens Medical Centre. The EAC directorate consists of a large acute medicine ward, a same day emergency care (SDEC) unit, ED, level 1 care area and a newly created General Internal medicine (GIM) service.

The role is to lead and develop the pharmacy service to the new GIM ward with support from the wider EAC pharmacy team.

Our acute admissions unit is one of the largest in the country, so we've created a large clinical pharmacy team to deliver an excellent 7 day service.

The post offers an outstanding opportunity to develop your portfolio of clinical knowledge and skills for the management of patients as part of the friendly, progressive and dynamic multidisciplinary team, as well as build on your leadership abilities.

If not already obtained then the post holder may be supported through the independent prescribing course.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver a high standard of medicine optimisation ideally utilising your prescribing skills.

You will work closely with the MDT, on & off the ward.

You will have opportunities to support governance, education and medication safety.

You will be expected to line manage, providing mentoring, and support with an individuals development and objectives.

You will be expected to be involved in quality improvement work within EAC and aim to publish your work to share your findings.
